Rules
We have three basic rules under which everything else falls:
- Be respectful
- Be Responsible
- Be safe
If a student does not follow the three rules, the teacher
writes on
the student's pink slip what the infraction was. (Each student
had
a pink slip that is kept in that student's desk.) The student
stays
in a recess and has a practice session. For example, the child
practices
raising his/her hand before speaking if that was the rule broken.
If the child was talking when he/she was supposed to be listening, the
child demonstrates how to be a good listener. They should go over
the Give Me Five for Listening:
- Eyes on the speaker
- Lips closed
- Ears listening
- Sit up straight
- Hands and feet quiet
Practice sessions generally last about three or four minutes
unless
a longer time is warranted. |
